One word. AWESOME!!!

If you wanted to see the lanterns work together, you got it. If you wanted to see Siniestro as a white lantern doing some awesome stuff, you got it. If you wanted more info and background on stuff you got it.

Since this comic was out yesterday I will not spoil you guys, I will leave that to the review of blackest nights final installment (next week)

In this great issue you will see that a lot of stuff is going on, and as always, a good story seems to be revealing itself. As you may have guessed by the last issue of BN, the entity has to be one of the most powerful beings on the DC universe, to bad Hal did not get to be the host but there has to be a reason.

This is a must, and is probably going to be something a collector might like to get his hands on probably with a copy to archive if you like keeping comics int their graded packs.

The art is really good and you get some REALLY COOL spread pages and as in most of the BN series you get dark pages, colorful pages and now white pages. 

Totally recommended, you will definitely enjoy this one.

Comic Review Blackest Night no. 7

OK, it's been a long time since this one was out, but since Blackest Night 8 is out next week I figured out I can go ahead and give out the spoilers freely.

It is almost the end of Blackest Night (prepare for Brightest Day) and thing just keep getting better and better!

First, the Coverpage, great one (as most of the BN series), you get to see all the human lanterns chosen at the end of Blackest Night 6 algonside Hal Jordan. Great art! Here is a look at the previous version of the Cover found in Sinclair´s deviantArt page

This comic has a lot going on. You get to see all the colored lanterns use their powers which gives us some really good rainbow colored pages with characters we have known for a very long time. Scarecrow actually gets his 5 minutes of glory before Luthor gets all "My preciuous" and wants all the rings for himself, courtesy of that orange ring of he is now wearing.

So apart from having all of the black lanterns, Black Hand and Nekron, now the good guys also have to fight Luthor who by now has an Orange ring, a Yellow ring and is wanting to rip Mera's Red ring off. At the same moment we see the death of a Guardian by Black Hand who uses his oddly brightly colored insides to summon The Trespasser, the Light Entitiy.

Seems that like all entities, the Trespasser is unable to attack. The trick with this one is that it is linked to all lanterns of all colors and so Nekron damages the entity and all the lanterns feel it.

So then again our heroes figure it out really fast (like the whole Parrallax can defeat the Spectre stuff) and Hal wants to be the entitiy's host. But he gets stopped:

And then for the last page we get something that made me feel akward, Siniestro as the Light Entity's host. So this will be Siniestro The Trespasser.

Brigthest Day is almost here, which reminded me of Fanboy Wife

Recently Fanboy Wife posted on her blog quick remark about how long the Blackest Night has been for being just a night. So obviously the following picture quickly reminded me of her feelings. (Mostly in an ironic way, since she will possibly have to hear the whole story of Brightest day from her Fanboy)

For those of you that have not heard of Fanboy Wife, it is a blog made by the Wife of Ash (a fake name for her husband) that functions as a compilation of all that our female counterparts have to go through. During the time I have followed her I have found interesting tips on how I sound when I talk about my stuff and a lot of humor of how silly our loved comic stories sound when told out loud.

Visit her blog, she updates more often than I do and you can look at how she progressively gets to know more and more about our stuff, she will eventually become one of us.

First look and you will see something really familiar, the coverpage. This cover is one idea that has been used over and over and over again. I like it when they use artistics this way, but when they do, since it is a "classic" cover for this title I really expect it to be breathtaking. In this case it was not.

  

The story is similar to superboy's in Adventure Comics this month. Ollie as well as the other resurrected characters got themselves "possessed", "controlled" or whatever it can be called by the black lantern rings. This is Ollie's story on how he is supposed to fight the black ring and how the black ring says a lot of evil stuff to the people near him. As in Superboy's (and Wonder Woman's) comic this month, the comic starts with a back story on the character, we also see things on the real world and things from Ollie's perspective from inside.

I never really liked the Green Arrow stories myself (sorry to all of you GA fans), he is always whining about incorrect decisions and takes incorrect decisions because of it. This issue is no different, Ollie is having issues with his previous actions all the way almost to the last page. I think Green Arrow has always felt inferior to the rest of the guys. I do not think he is, but the fact that he feels it kind of makes him sometimes.

One thing I have been noticing more and more is that the old JLA members are all feeling more emotional with all this death heroes resurrected and stuff. You can read the thoughts being more personal, they all have known each other for long.

One thing I did like was the expressions made bye Black Lantern Arrow. He really looks evil.

The end did not surprise me. I would rate this one really low. I would have it join my "to be read again" library  only if the things that happen in this issue trascend (which probably would not)

Blackest Night Tie-in

This is the first Adventure Comics issue I have read in a while and I decided to start my review with it for two reasons; this title has a new creative team and it's alphabetical order places it before the others.

Looking at my first reason to review it. The new team. This is more of a sync-up issue for them, they get to try this title on a story that is already focused somewhere else (namely Blackest Night) and advance a little in superboy's specific story. Much like the other tie-in titles this month; Green Arrow 30, Flash 3, Wonder Woman 03 and JSA 3; superboy´s story is changing one thing only (wait for the spoiler part for this).

Another good part of this issue is the historic recap superboy does at the beginning, we essentially get to see a resumed history of superboy on the DC world since Reign of Supermen in two pages narrated by Superboy from inside the Black Lantern. This brought back memories, seeing superboy in his old outfit, when he was yelling to everyone he was Superman not Superboy.

Now for the content.

For those not following what is happening on Blackest Night and grab this issue, I suppose it is because of the new story arc that is going to come starting next issue, so here goes a quick recap of superboy's whereabouts during this particular event.

In blackest Night we see Black rings resurrecting dead people and feeding from their emotinons and we get to know the Corps for the other colors of the visual spectrum which (you might have guessed already) are the ones with the means to defeat them.

On superboy's case, and some other resurrected heroes, a black made its way to his hand. Superboy became a Black Lantern with the reasoning being that he died once and he is meant to be dead. This is where we set of. 

This issue starts with the recap and we realize Conner is thinking all this from inside the Black Lantern Superboy while fighting Cassie. Throughout the issue Conner is trying to escape while the Black Lantern is insulting Cassie with all he's got. 

By the end of the issue Conner is able to liberate himself from the Black Ring and with both Cassie and Krypto heads to the main conflict to make a stand.

Some points worth being highlighted. During this issue Superboy is able to use the cold breathing superman does for the first time, this added to the fact that he can still use Tactile Telekinesis (learned a month or two ago) is making our Jr.S a bad-ass on the neighborhood.
