Emerald Fan: For the Hunt. New Predator Movie around the block.

The Predator/Alien franchise is a big one and is growing day by day. This year we have Predators brought to us by Robert Rodriguez and directed by Nimród Antal.

Most of the franchise success comes from what started it, the first predator film, the second predator film, the whole bunch of alien films and the old arcade alien versus predator, those were the big hits for this ones ( have not played the other games so I will ot talk about them), then we all remember the big no-no's, although they had a good idea was behind them, I am talking about both AVP and AVP2 which did have a really cool story behind them, specially the first one, but it was not done correctly.

But let us entirely forget about those awful films and go back to our loved alltime good films. What made the Predator franchise so good?

-It was not the charm of the Governator, although he did a really good job with what was expected, looking tough, good action scenes and lines like "If it bleeds, we can kill it".

So Arnold was one key element. Unfortunately he is governator right now, so don't count on him filming on this one.

But we can understand from this that good drama actors are not needed, we need actors that can mimmic Arnolds performance, but then again, we do not need a remake, so we need new faces on a new script.

-Soldiers, lots of them. You have a bunch of trained-to-kill-and-survive humans against one Predator. Having the soldiers made the viewer think us humans can make a stance. It is a good feeling.

-Figthing the unknown, predator was a mythical hunter-demon that came every year or something. The first time I saw the film I was waiting half the movie just to get a good look at the damn demon, which later became the famous Predator. On the second film, our main characters had no idea what they were fighting, and the same goes for the first Alien film.

-Good filming, on all the predator only and alien only series you always fell like you know ere you are, what can happen and what can go wrong. The viewer had a good sense of ubication, they new where the things were happening.

So what was wrong with AVP and AVP2?

-No tough guy, the main one was a girl that had no clue. Don't get me wrong I am not against the girl part, I am against the had no clue part.

- Bad scenes, you never get a feeling you now where you are with al those wierd shots.

- Soldiers got ripped off really quick (most of them)

So let us see whats cooking on the new Predators film.

Plot: A bunch of humans (most look militaristic, probably selected that way by the predators) are kidnapped by predators and are thrown in a jungle-like planet (back to basics, good) where they are hunted by a new breed of predators (unkown, good). The guys do not make it easy on the predators and eventually find one guy that has survived (and seems he killed one already).
